PRESS RELEASE: Intertek Acquires Industry-Leading PV Inspection Provider AePVI
High-speed technology acquisition will enable Intertek CEA to deliver superior customer service, increase productivity and enhance capacity
17 February, London, UK: Intertek (“Intertek” and “Group”), a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has expanded its Quality Assurance offering for the solar industry with the acquisition of Aerial PV Inspection GmbH (“AePVI”), a leading provider of high-speed technology-powered inspection and diagnostic solutions for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
As the fastest growing form of renewable energy1, the global solar market is undergoing rapid expansion, driven by accelerating investment in PV projects and rising demand for fast‑paced Quality Assurance solutions which enable zero defects.
Often caused by weather, shipping or incidents during manufacturing, installation and operations, PV module damage and defects impact asset performance, reliability and long-term energy yield. AePVI helps clients to overcome these challenges through breakthrough drone and ground-based technologies which deliver innovative high-speed, high‑precision inspection for large solar PV systems. This combination of technologies and proprietary digital software positions AePVI strongly to capitalise on the industry’s structural growth drivers, having already established itself as a trusted specialist in the European solar market from its base in Germany.
AePVI will be integrated into the Intertek CEA business line, complementing its world leading end-to-end Quality Assurance offering for the solar industry by expanding the scope of services offered in factory-to-field assurance through enhanced high-speed drone and ground-based data collection, analysis and comparison across the asset life cycle.
With this cutting-edge technology, Intertek CEA will gain a speed advantage while inspecting large solar farms, enabling superior customer service, increased productivity and enhanced capacity.
Sunny Rai, President Electrical, Connected World and Transportation Technologies, said: “The silicon wafers inside solar modules are fragile, making them susceptible to damage which is impossible to detect with the naked eye. The acquisition of AePVI marks an important addition to Intertek CEA’s impressive capabilities – spanning from supplier selection to end-of-life recycling – enabling us to solve these key problems at speed and scale for our customers. We welcome the AePVI team and look forward to combining our services to unlock exciting opportunities to expand our market penetration and accelerate growth.”
As part of Intertek, CEA’s customers also benefit from the Group’s industry-leading portfolio of assurance, testing, inspection and certification ‘ATIC’ solutions and global network of science-based, highly technically skilled individuals and teams.
